Colton and the owner of Club , a strip club off the Freeway, are near an agreement to convert the two-story South La Cadena Drive building into a convenience store and gas station. After reviewing the proposed agreement for the first time last week, Colton leaders suggested requiring club owner Todd Gibboney to pay more in upfront and annual mitigation fees — money that covers the cost of providing public services to the area. They also want to reserve billboard space for city announcements and not solicit ads from out-of-town businesses in direct competition with those in Colton. Councilman David Toro was absent.
More than nine months after residents voted to allow medical cannabis businesses in town, city officials have approved a dispensary permit for the location now occupied by Flesh Showgirls. That permit has since been appealed, city spokeswoman Monica Lagos said. The measure requires the city to allow dispensaries — as well as other types of marijuana businesses — at locations at least feet from residential zones and meeting other requirements.
